Megaupload is dead long live Megaupload

This page is for me to have a go at the record labels for 90% of them are only in it for themselves and will fleece an artist and the general public faster than a wet turd down a drainpipe.
Tough shit Kim Dotcom don't let the bastards grind you down.

We put our trust in the almighty and assume Kim will get a fair trial by the corrupt American government and  judicial system. No crooked jury now do you hear. Do they have proper juries in the USA  for I am under the general impression that its a case of tarring & feathering then having a rope slung around your middle and being dragged through the dust by a horse for 10 km before being lynched from the nearest tree with everyone meeting up later back at the barn for a slice of apple pie just like granma used to make and a spot of line dancing to "I wish I was in Dixie" Or maybe the Americans do not do that any more. All I can say Kim is thank fuck your not black think of what could of happened to you if you were and don't think Mr Obama would have saved you they would have kept it secret within the klan know what I mean.
To all normal Americans your ok but aspects of your government just sucks big time like a gnat on a cows ass.

It is common knowledge that the fed's took down Megaupload  due to the whimsical concerns of a certain media giant in Hollywood (UMG) thus eliminating the competition within the lucrative world of the music industry.
Earlier this year Megauploads founder Kim Dotcom announced that the company where planning to launch Megabox which would rival Apples itunes and set a new standard in media distribution sometime in 2012.

Megabox would have allowed unsigned acts to promote and sell their own compositions via downloads thus cutting out that dreaded contract with Lucifer that so many labels seem all too eager to dish out.
And finally relinquishing the stranglehold that these company's seem to have had on the worlds musical talent.
Megaupload where even prepared to pay musical artists for material offered as a free download, sounds too good to be true ? Well now it may be so, thanks to the infinite wisdom of American politics.

Now if any of you dudes and gals are in a band of some sorts and your making some headway and people are starting to buzz about your music. One of these days you and your band mates will be approached by a labels A & R rep (Artist and Repertoire) these guys will be the same age as the band they will know all about your influences be into the same stuff and will at times have the bands favourite substance in his/her back pocket.
Wow is not this dude so cool, he is just like us amazing. That is exactly what they want you to think and now that they have got you all relaxed and off your guard they can get to work on you all do not be fooled.

This A & R man or in some cases it is a real hot chick will promise you the fucking earth and will tell you that when you sign with his label you are signing with him and that he is your friend and respects the direction the band is heading ect ect.
These A & R reps are not allowed to write contracts. What they do is present the band with a letter of intent (Deal Memo) which will state some terms and affirm that the band will sign with the label once a contract has been agreed on.
Sounds harmless enough yeah ? Think again dude you have just been sucker punched in the knackers.
This Memo is for legal purposes, a binding document. That is once the band signs it they are under obligation to conclude a deal with the label.
These letters have no terms of expiration so the band remain bound by the Deal Memo until a contract is signed, no matter how long it takes. The band cannot sign to another label or put out its own material unless they are released from their agreement which never happens.
Remember once a band has signed a letter of intent they will eventually sign a contract that SUITS the label or they will be destroyed. (Pleased to meet you do you know my name and the nature of my game).

More on this topic later see ya all in a bit.
